WhatsApp Rolling out Search the Web Functionality to Help Fact Check Viral Messages

When a WhatsApp message has been forward many times, the app displays a special icon to let users know the nature of the message isn’t original. This can help identify incorrect information going viral.
Starting today, the company is testing a method to double-check messages like these by tapping the magnifying glass button in the chat. The feature uploads the message via the users default browser without WhatsApp reading itself reading the contents.
