Google Is Indexing Private WhatsApp Groups Invite Links That Are Shared on Public Pages .. and the Internet Goes Bananas
https://www.vice.comJordan Wildon, a multimedia journalist for German outlet Deutsche Welle, tweeted on Friday saying Your WhatsApp groups may not be as secure as you think they are. By using advanced search operators like chat.whatsapp.com (looks like Google has removed it from their index now) people could get around 470,000 results on Google.
If you share private content on public pages this is what will happen, Google will try and index it…. it’s their job. I was going through that thread on twitter and there was some hilarious replies from things like DuckDuckGo does not have that many results for this so they are a better privacy-focused search engine, (I nearly fell off my chair after reading that one) etc. I think the only reason other search engines don’t have that many results is that they can’t do a good job of indexing the web as well as Google.
Facebook could have no-indexed this content if they wanted this not be visible in search, I can’t really blame Google for this. What do you all think?
