WhatsApp Launches Digital Payments in Brazil

https://blog.whatsapp.com

Facebook is bringing digital payments to WhatsApp users and Small Businesses in Brazil, they have been testing it in India for a while but have run into some legal issue.  In addition to viewing a store’s catalog, customers will be able to send payments for products as well.

The tech is powered by Facebook Pay, and they hope that in the future it will be possible for people and businesses to use the same card information across Facebook’s family of apps.

They will support debit or credit cards from select few providers and will open up to more partners over time.

Sending money or making a purchase on WhatsApp is free for people. Businesses will pay a 3.99% processing fee to receive customer payments, similar to what they may already pay when accepting a credit card transaction.
