Yoast, Rank Math WordPress SEO Plugin Canonical URLs Issue

Looks like there was a bug in popular WordPress SEO plugins Yoast and Rank Math for non-English websites where Canonical URLs were manually changed. When the URL contains Unicode characters ( things like the #,&, foreign language characters, etc ) canonical was pointing to https://site.com/---/ instead of the correct URL.

• RankMath has already pushed out an update to fix the issue.
• Yoast is aware of the issue and will be releasing a fix in the next update and you might need to re-save the impacted canonical URLs.
