Google Updates Mobile-First Indexing Documentation with More Info on Best Practices
https://twitter.comThe official Google documentation on Mobile-First Indexing was updated to add a few new things, it’s well worth a read but if you are looking for the tl;dr version here are some of the key things that were updated:
- Make sure the mobile and desktop sites have the same structured data.
- Don’t lazy-load primary content upon user interaction.
- Use the same meta robots tags on the mobile and desktop site.
- Make sure Googlebot can access and render mobile and desktop page content.
- Making sure the mobile site contains the same content as the desktop site. (at the very least for the primary content)
- Using the same headings on the mobile site and desktop site.
- Don’t use URLs that change every time the page loads for images or videos.
- Make sure that the mobile site has the same alt text for images as the desktop site.
