Google Says Using Long Anchor Text In Some Cases Gives Them More Context

Google tries to answer a users question “Do you treat anchor text that contains many words differently in comparison to anchor text that contains 2 words only?”.

They mentioned that Google doesn’t necessarily treat longer or shorter anchor text any different when it comes to rankings. However, using more words in anchor text provides more context to Google about the page being linked to in some cases.

There is nothing super actionable in this advice but it’s worth keeping it in mind when you think about linking content together.
