Google Rich Results Now Eligible to Show for a Homepage

It appears Google has started showing review rating for homepages again, these used to exist for a while and then Google stopped showing them for homepages but apparently it’s starting to show up again. I am not sure if it’s by accident or if Google will continue showing this moving forward. Also, keep in mind not to break any review snippet guidelines so that you don’t incur the wrath of a manual action.

Sample Query: Try searching for car rental australia on Mobile or Desktop. I was able to trigger the star rating in the SERPs from Australia.

Update 09/06/2020: Looks like a bug and Google will be fixing it soon.
