Google Fined €500 Million For French News Negotiation Breach
https://www.searchenginejournal.comOn Tuesday 13th July 2021, France’s antitrust authority issued Google a fine to the tune of €500 million, which equates to $593M, for failing to negotiate with publishers in good faith regarding showcasing news.
Following the fine, Google has been granted two months to create proposals to compensate French news publishers.
If the tech giant fails to comply, the French authorities could issue further fines of €900,000 per day, which equates to approximately $1.065 million daily.
