Case Study: Low Quality Keyword – Location Pages Not Always Better For Ranking In Google
https://searchengineland.comLast year, Sterling Sky worked with a personal injury lawyer client in Florida that wasn’t ranking very well for some of the main keywords that they were targeting. Prior to working with them, the law firm had another company set up dozens of boilerplate service area pages targeting social security disability terms. Each page was focused on an individual city or service area but provided no real value to the users who visited those pages.
These pages had very similar content, hardly any external or internal links, etc.
They made the decision to delete them all and redirect them to the main service page about social security disability.
Within weeks of doing this, they saw big increases in their local pack rankings for “social security disability attorney.”
NOTE: Personally I think the lack of internal link to those would have been a big factor for those pages struggling to rank, as I constantly see these type of Keyword – Location pages ranking well on Google.
