Google to Rename Missing Information to Dishonest Pricing Practices Policy

https://support.google.com

In August 2020, Google will rename and reorganize their misrepresentation policies for improved readability and understanding. Certain policy actions and corresponding messaging to Google advertisers will include updated policy names. These changes, however, will not impact what is currently restricted or prohibited per their policies.

“Missing Information” policy will be renamed to “Dishonest pricing practices” to cover ads that have misleading pricing practices or unclear payment models. The policy guidelines related to solicitation of funds and tax exempt status for political organizations and charities that were previously under the Missing Information policy will be enforced under their “Solicitation of Funds” policy going forward.

Multiple policy guidelines related to “Unreliable claims,” “Misleading ad design,” and “Manipulated media” that are currently enforced under the “Misleading Content” policy will become independent policies within the Misrepresentation policy category for improved advertiser messaging. The “Misleading content” policy will be renamed to “Misleading representation.”

“Business name requirements” will become a new policy under Editorial. They will continue to enforce inaccurate and misleading business names under the “Misleading representation” policy.
