tl;dr Marketing #38: Q&A on Google Maps, ⚠️for HTTP sites, FB 🎯 ads for real-world locations visits
Hi 👋 everyone,
Some of the top stories in today’s issue are:
  • Amazon’s patent on the 1 click checkout is expiring on September 11, 2017
  • Walmart & Google Partner to Offer Voice Shopping through Google Assistant & Home
  • iOS 11 Safari will turn Google AMP links back into regular ones when sharing
  • Chrome will add NOT Secure warning for HTTP sites with forms starting October 2017
  • Yandex launches Korolyov it’s updated deep neural network algorithm
  • Faster Ads in AMP with Fast Fetch
  • Facebook brings its Marketplace to 17 European countries

SEO - Organic
Starting in late September, Wallmart and Google will offer hundreds of thousands of items for voice shopping via Google Assistant and Google Home.
Both Google and Walmart have a common enemy in Amazon, which has a significant lead in the installed base of voice assistants. According to a recent NPR survey, Amazon has a 76 percent market share among smart speaker owners vs. Google Home’s 16 percent share — 8 percent of smart speaker households have both.
Apple is adding a subtle new feature to Safari in iOS 11 that will automatically strip out Google AMP URLs when a webpage is shared or copy and pasted.
All your questions answered on Google Maps and Search
When you look at a Maps page for the business or landmark (on Android and mobile Search), you will have the option to see questions others have asked of the business, as well as ask your own. You’ll be notified when someone else — or the owner of the page itself — answers any of your questions.
To make sure “Questions & answers” contains the most accurate and useful local info possible, business owners can add frequently asked questions and answers as well. We did see this being tested a few weeks ago. It a global launch to all Android Users on Google Maps. ( confirmed on Android from Australia )
Businesses now can add (in the Google My Business dashboard) a link to their “action URLs” - online orders, menu, reservations, appointments, and similar actions. The link will show up wherever your Google My Business page shows up in the local search results.
It’s not the Reserve with Google booking that was launched in the US but a field where you can add a link to your reservation system or contact form. It’s available in Austalia right now, you can see it in action here.
When it comes to the Bing search results, their local pack results are very large and noticeable in the search results.  But they seem to be taking a step back and displaying a smaller local result in the Bing search results when there is only one local listing found.  And it blends so well in the search results, most people wouldn’t distinguish it as being local, but rather a regular search result.
Chrome NOT Secure warning for HTTP sites
Starting October 2017, Chrome (version 62) will show a ‘NOT SECURE’ warning when users enter text in a form on an HTTP page, and for all HTTP pages in Incognito mode.
The following URLs on your site include text input fields (such as < input type=“text” > or < input type=“email” >) that will trigger the new Chrome warning. They have started sending warnings to webmasters via Search Console.
Now when you do a search on Google(Google app for Android and Chrome on Android), you’ll get a preview of relevant videos directly in the results, so you have a better idea of what you’re about to watch before you tap.
With this new update, their algorithm can now
  • match the meaning of a search query to all of the content of a web page, as opposed to just the title.
  • the results feed into MatrixNet, Yandex’s proprietary machine learning ranking algorithm, where a number of other ranking factors are considered before results are returned to a user.  •  Share
When you search for “mobile friendly” or “AMP” related query in Google you will get a snippet at the top of the page letting you test any URL. You can run the same test using this tool.  •  Share
Fetch As Google Stops At 10,000 Pixels
while the fetch as Google rendering cut off is 10,000 pixels, all of the HTML on that page was fully indexed. So this is just a fetch as Google rendering limitation, not a limitation on what Google can index. Something to consider for infinite scroll pages. h/t : TorbenSEO
Google could pay as much as $3 billion a year just to remain the default option in Safari. Google had to pay $1 billion every year to remain the default search engine on iOS back in 2014.
There is a new option within Google Maps Android to add a business under construction and indicate the date in the future that it will be open. This is not possible via the GMB.
Google has started showing “Recently Opened” lable in local knowledge panels.  •  Share

Faster Loading Ads in AMP with Fast Fetch
With Fast Fetch, Google can separate when the ad request is made from when the ad response is rendered. This allows them to make an ad request very early in the lifecycle of the page for all ad slots and only render the ads before the user is about to view them.
Dynamic Search Ads pilot in Bing Ads now open to all US advertisers
Ads are automatically matched to queries based on advertisers’ website content. Ads are served by landing page content rather than keywords the advertiser enters. Bing Ads crawls the advertiser’s website to identify a landing page that’s related to the search query and dynamically generates ad titles that fit the query. The ads are then served with the generic ad copy the advertiser has entered. Signup for the pilot.
Social Media
Facebook is giving advertisers the option to deliver their video ads specifically to in-stream placements in videos on Facebook, on Audience Network or across both.
Facebook just announced a YouTube competitor called Watch
Watch, a new platform for shows on Facebook. Watch will be available on mobile, on desktop and laptop, and TV apps. Shows are made up of episodes — live or recorded — and follow a theme or storyline. To help you keep up with the shows you follow, Watch has a Watchlist so you never miss out on the latest episodes.
Marketplace was available in 7 countries : Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand USA and the UK).
FB has just announced it’s rolling out Marketplace to 17 more countries across Europe: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Snapchat Snap Map could work for SMEs
Snap Map allows you to see where your Snapchat friends on a map of the world, they are displayed using their Bitmoji avatars. During the solar eclipse Snapchat friends who are in the path of the eclipse’s “totality” will temporarily be depicted wearing solar glasses and looking up into the sky. I can see how this can turn into a marketing tool for SMEs.
Facebook is testing an option for advertisers to target people who visited their real-world locations with ads on Facebook, Instagram and Facebook’s Audience Network ad network.
Amplify Creator Post on FB
Previously, marketers could only boost a creator’s post by sharing it first. Now Facebook is adding the ability to directly boost the post as it appears on the creator’s Page. The target audience will see that the post originated from the creator, even though the marketer boosted it.
Facebook is testing a new feature within the Marketplace section of the mobile app that aggregates eBay’s Daily Deals for “a small percentage of people in the U.S.”
Facebook also shows job postings inside Marketplace and according to Recode Facebook plans to add more categories to Marketplace, including ticket sales and products from retailers’ shopping pages.
US based businesses can start using 1click checkouts soon. The whole idea behind the patent (US only, it was not granted in EU and AU) is when you store a user’s credit card and address you only need a single click to order a product. With a one click checkout a user is sent straight from the product (or category) page to the order confirmation page.
