Hi folks,
This week we have confirmation from Google that page speed will be a ranking factor when mobile first index rolls out. They also released a new Rich snippet in the SERP, this time for Podcasts.

You can enable your podcast to appear in Google Search results along with individual episode descriptions and an embedded player for each. This feature applies only to searches in the Google Search app v6.5 or higher on an Android device or on Google Home, chrome support is coming soon.

This feature does not rely on schema.org, but instead leverages RSS feeds. supports podcasts that are distributed either Google Play,  iTunes or those  published only on individual websites.
Google is launching tappable shortcuts on the Google app for Android and iOS and Google.com on the mobile web that give you easy access to great tools and the ability to explore deeper within topics you care about.

You have to submit a request via GMB, the current listing owner will receive an email asking them to get in touch with you, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.
Allow a full 7 days for the current listing owner to respond to your request. If you don’t hear back after 7 days, you’ll be able to verify your affiliation with the business to gain access to the listing.

Google has now said that they will be including mobile page speed in the upcoming mobile first indexing change.
Google has added new AMP carousels into their “People Also Search For” on mobile. The carousels are hidden until somone clicks to expand one of the options shown.
Some data for clicks and impressions in image search is being dropped. This is a logging issue, not a traffic issue.Google is aware of the issue and hope to have a fix soon.
Google has opened up the application process for Post on Google in the U.S. and Brazil so that organizations and people within specific categories can post directly on Google.

Dynamic Search Ads (DSA) will transition to expanded text ads through April, bringing them in line with search and display campaigns.
They are also introducing page feeds, a spreadsheet of URLs for the most focused targeting. It has  2 fields: Page URL and Custom Label. The feeds enable advertisers to designate exactly which landing pages to include in a DSA campaign.
Google also says it has continued to make quality updates for DSAs, such as taking location signals into account, and that the latest changes have led to better conversion rates and lower CPAs, on average.

Social Media
People around the world can broadcast live video to Facebook from their desktop or laptop computers. Facebook also added a new Live feature that makes it easy to use streaming software or external hardware when going live from a computer.

Facebook now offers “better ways to visually inspire mobile shoppers” with its newest product-focused ad format, collection. With collection ads, brands can feature a primary video or image above relevant product images that, once clicked, lead to “an immersive, fast-loading shopping experience… that can showcase up to 50 products at a time” within Facebook.
Tips
Today’s tip is on how to get concepts and ideas when you want to write content about a topic. We will use AlchemyLanguage, it is a collection of APIs that offer text analysis through natural language processing. This will help you analyse paragraphs of text (or content from a URL) and break it down into concepts, entities, keywords, sentiment, and more.
Once you have a topic in mind grab the top 5 results from Google, the Wikipedia page about the topic, etc and feed it through this web app. Now you get to see the various concepts and keywords for all those top ranking pages. Now create your content around that and you have content that is very relevant to the topic you want to rank for.
