Chrome 85 Beta Will Have a Well Hidden Fast Page Label

https://blog.chromium.org

I was kinda excited and thought this was fast page label in the SERPs or a very prominent label in chrome UI but it’s not. This is only available in the link context menu on Chrome for Android, you get that when you long-press a link on mobile. Honestly, who would ever see this? Would you just click on a link or long-press a link to check if the page is fast?

Labelling is based on signals from the Core Web Vitals metrics that quantify key aspects of users’ experience, as experienced by real-world Chrome users. Links to pages that have historically met (I am assuming this means field data from PSI) or exceeded all metrics thresholds for the Core Web Vitals will be displayed with a new “Fast page” label.

But they do mention that over time, they may also experiment with labelling in other parts of Chrome’s UI, so all hope is not lost.
